I’m twelve and I feel the responsibility of existing in a female body when we are led into the stadium seating in our youth group room, separated from the boys.
I am starting to worry that I may have contributed this kind of complexity to my daughter’s young life already. Do you have a teenage daughter ? I feel like I need a script to rewrite the messages she’s getting (some my fault!). What is a better message to send ?
It is incorrect that "all men think about is sex."
it is more correct to say "men think about sex all the time."
And it's that's ok. That's biology. But men should also put just as much, if not more thought and focus into the other things that are important in their lives.
I don't understand why we take the actions of men who are not focusing on the right things, and go to women and say "this is all your fault, you should do better."
We are perpetuating a culture of women uncomfortable with their own sexuality, ashamed of their desires, and burdened by their bodies. It is one thing to protect yourself from malicious criminals, and another to take responsibility for the actions of 50% of the population.
just great, emily. please keep writing
Great value Mike pence 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The best description of this behavior
If you could go back and tell your 12 year old self all the right things, what would you tell her ?

Well said Emily. I found myself getting angry on your behalf.
Same here. You can't read her backstory and not be instantly horrified by what that smug jerk at the gym put her through.
